10:00 am
celebrate for four years. >> this is called "rock bottom." we got a big show today and a big surprise to tell you about in a minute. tim sacks is here with today's buzz and jennifer gardner has broken her silence about ending her marriage to ben. >> the fashion you didn't see last night. bobbie thomas is here and i love when she does this with her red carpet redos. >> always has great ideas. >> if you know somebody who has been sick with the flu and people have been dropping like flies, we'll tell you why it seems to be so bad this year plus what to worry about. and allergy season. >> we have a big day. >> we've never done this before. >> in honor of leap day. you guys asked us before why are our talks so short, why can't we have more. we have commercials. we can't.
10:01 am
breaks to make money. >> possible pay some bills. >> but not today. >> at least not in the first 20 minutes. folks in our kitchen are taking that. they are from american express. hey. >> my card was burning over the weekend. i have to order some more outdoor furniture. kah-ching. no wonder you guys have big smiles on your faces. >> they have bought the three minute commercial break so we get to continue to talk live on air. you know how we have our chat? it's going to be longer and then usually there's a commercial. and then we have to go. we'll say he'll be right back. you'll watch it in the commercial break. watch them move our tables, spill our drinks, do what we do as we prepare. >> no potty break for hoda. >> so we get more out of life meaning hoda and i.
10:02 am

10:04 am
i know they had to address the subject and did it in a fair minded way for sure. >> i thought he was funny. >> i thought he was funny and he managed to address all the different stuff that i thought was fair. he talked about how, you know, there weren't any black actors or actresses nominated but also talked about why there are separate categories for women and men. i thought and he was lot of fun. but let's take a look at the monolog. >> i'm here at the academy awards. otherwise known as the white people's choice awards. you realize if they nominated northwests i wouldn't even get getget get -- nominated host, i wouldn't get nominated. categories.
10:05 am
think about it. there's no real reason for there to be a man and a woman category in acting. come on. there's no reason. it's not track and field. you don't have to separate them. robert deniro has never said i better slow this acting down so meryl streep can catch up. >> even the concept of having black coordination then have asian categories too and every minority. you know what it's got to be the best performances. people vote personally what they thought was the best performance. >> i think the argument too is just give more opportunity sos there can be more performances so you can choose, so people will have -- >> it's fair. >> there's been so much change in this business. it's going the right way. it may take longer than some people want.
10:06 am
person to win. the best performance to win. >> everyone would agree with that. >> i don't think so. >> i do. i think they want the best performance. i feel a lot of times they were saying a lot of people don't have many opportunities to act in films because it doesn't fit this particular character so they don't have as many opportunities and when you don't have as many chances you don't have as much, chance to win. >> i don't know, hoda. i disagree on that. i've seen so much change. all for the better. >> let's move on to shall we say oscar fashion. it was big. >> yes. >> okay. so these are some of the dresses. >> did you notice a trend? >> i saw a lot of bright colors. >> all for spring. >> you loved this one right here. >> i thought she was, talk about a breath of fresh air. she looked beautiful. alicia vikander. age appropriate. she's young, fresh, brilliant. i just thought -- you know she

10:08 am
i don't know what she was think, heidi. maybe she a lot of fun at her prom in the '60s and just walking down memory lane. >> bobbie will do that thing. >> most beautiful women. >> jimmy kimmel. he's had this long running feud with actor matt damon. >> it is real? >> i think so. >> he's made fun of him last night ben affleck was invited. and he had a surprise for jimmy. let's take a look. >> please welcome ben affleck. >> what is going on here? >> thanks. >> what you got a monkey under there or something? what's going on here? >> it's moving.
10:09 am

10:10 am
so take a look. >> who curses the most? >> without -- there's an easy answer here. that is adam levine. he curses like a sailor. >> who would you want to go on vacation with? >> or have you >> i have not vacationed with any of our -- >> hoda and i have. >> i would go with theriot. he's so zen. everyone is so chatty kathy. >> who is on their phone the most? >> that's a good question. >> who is on their phone the most. >> always looking down. >> i would have to say blake. >> really? >> very into himself. he googles himself all the time. hold on. this goes back to this whole thing. that's happening.
10:11 am
look what they are saying about me now. what? >> that was fun. all right. if you can't get enough of that and who can there's more of that video on facebook. >> "the voice," the baseline auditions start tonight at 8:00, 7:00 central right here on nbc. we have a new affiliate that has come in to our family. >> big news. >> wrla. >> affiliate in north carolina. they are a juggernaut. >> this is one you've been telling me. >> monica is a friend of mine and works at this station. this station dominates all news in that region. so now -- >> what are we doing on it? >> i don't know. we're part of them now. a big, big thank you and welcome. glad you guys are watching us for the first time. we're so excited. >> what a day for them to be tuning in. what the heck is this train wreck?
10:12 am
>> you've been in quite a few magazines. i don't know why. you were in one in du jur and then "christianity today." look who sheer with a nice picture and testimony, kathie lee gifford. again. >> can't get enough. we need to switch the set. >> this is what we do at commercials. this is what happens. we'll stand up. do what you do. what these guys do is they -- >> save the wine, sal. >> you want mine? >> take mine too. >> they take these down. >> and now they are going to reset for -- thank you. these are our new cards. okay.
10:13 am
>> we just try to get out of the way. >> hardest-working guys in the world. we love you guys. >> almost time for tim stack. but they have to set up the scene. watch how fast they do it. go. jerry, go. sal. this is good. this is what we do. >> exactly. i don't dance. >> not on camera in front of millions people. >> 15 seconds. >> 15 seconds, everybody. >> stand by for buzz. >> hello amex people. >> and boom. so our friend and "entertainment weekly" senior writer tim sack is here with the juicy gossip. >> that's pretty amazing.
10:14 am
so you're here with all the juicy gossip. let's get started with oscar moments. some people were confused when at the oscars a girl named stacy dash from . >> well, stacey dash is a personality, if you will. but she's a commentator on fox news. but she's an actress but famously infamously came out and said black history month didn't need to be in existence, nor b.e.t. because she thought that creates segregation. chris rock brought her out as a joke this is the new ambassador of outreach for diverse attempt she came out and said i can't wait to help everyone. >> did it fall flat? >> yeah. >> i think it was odd because she's a very polarizing figure. because, obviously, what she speaks of is cray cray. >> not everybody thinks she's cray cray.
10:15 am
still think she's cray cray. >> okay. but i do love clueless. >> i thought people didn't understand -- >> i don't think people understood the joke. he was mistaking a joke and it did fall flat. >> let's talk about leo decaprio. who was gazing at him? >> kate winslet. she was gazing at him. i was gazing at him too in my house. he won finally. he was nominated for an oscar before, it's been a 20 years wait for him. and he got up, i think everyone -- there was a standing ovation. it was just like, everyone loves him. and but kate winslet was very adoringly looking at him. that's his titanic co-star and great friend. there she is. that's her husband but she's focused on leo. >> what did everyone think about sly stallone not getting -- >> i was bummed. i thought creed was incredible.
10:16 am
very acclaimed actor. he's mostly known for stage work. but -- >> brilliant. >> it's a bummer because sly was overlooked years ago for rocky e. he was overlooked again. >> so was steven spielberg and tom hanks for the same movie. >> that's what i mean, sometimes it's not your year. >> i think it was a bad title bridge of spies that seems like a rickety bridge. >> i loved it. >> let's talk razzies. what was the worst of year? >> they're the huhawards that honor the worst for the year. 50 shades of grey was a big winner/loser. they nabbed five wins, including a tie for fantastic four for worst movie of the year. dakota johnson won worst actress. worst screen play, but it's -- it made so much money. >> there's more coming?
